Frederick P. Siegel, PhD Scholarship

If you had Dr. Siegel as a teacher, you likely remember him fondly as a master educator who remains one of the most, if not the most, beloved professors to ever walk the halls of the College.  He’s also one of the foremost experts in the country on bringing a concept to final dosage form, still actively consulting for companies at 80 years of age.

An interesting fact to note, not once in his 34 years of teaching did he ever use notes. He relied solely on the power of extemporaneous thought and faith in the resulting give-and-take with his students who showered him with appreciation in return.  Dr. Siegel was voted Teacher of the Year 15 times, beginning in 1973 (eight times by the senior class; five times by the juniors; and twice by the freshmen).  He received nine Golden Apple Awards, which serves to acknowledge excellence in instruction, humanness in relationship, and fairness in evaluation. We also recently honored him as one of the first recipients of the College’s Legacy award.  We cannot recall a professor with more accolades than Dr. Siegel.
