I.B. Crystal was born in 1901. He attended Chicago grammar schools and graduated from Chicago’s Bowen High School in 1918. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Illinois’ College of Pharmacy as a member of the class of 1922. After graduation he was employed by the Walgreen Company where he served in both supervisory and managerial positions for 35 years. He married Mildred Fishleder in 1926. Their daughter, Yvette, was born in 1927.
In 1954, Mr. Crystal moved to New Jersey to be near his daughter and his three grandchildren. He continued his professional career in New Jersey until his death in 1975.
Mr. Crystal was proud to be a graduate of the University of
Illinois. He was proud to be a
pharmacists. It was because of his
affection for the College of Pharmacy that this scholarship fund was
established by his family.
A scholarship shall be awarded to one student each year. The recipient shall be a P2 student who has financial need and who achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher in his or her P1 year. The student shall also exhibit interest in community pharmacy
